Whew... Finally.

I wasn't sure I was going to finish this, as I only heard about the contest on Tuesday. I've never worked this fast on a book before. Couple of long nights there. Suffice it to say, I'm pretty tired right now. But it's done, and I made it with time to spare.

Anyway, since I haven't seen the movie, and the trailer and synopsis don't say much about the story, I figured instead of trying to guess where the story was going or working too much with the existing cast that I'd just take the main character, Barthelemy Karas, and do a short story about one of his earlier cases. I decided not to use any of the existing stills, so everything's produced by hand, scanned in and pieced together in photoshop. To make it easier to read, everything's been arranged in one LONG file. So all you have to do to read the thing is to SCROLL DOWN.

And please do FULL VIEW and read the whole thing because I put a lot of effort into this, and I think and hope that it pays off for you, the reader.

[link] <-- here's the contest page with synopsis and trailers for the actual movie. It'll help orient you to the world they've created and where I'm coming from with the story.

Please do let me know what you think.

THANK YOU!

I am the one who holds the key - the one with a broken wing.
Damn, that was excellent. I really liked this story, a side story for Roberts character would be interesting. I'd like to see what he went through before ending his life. The style, awesome as usual. Gj, man.

What doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger.
Great job as always :aww:
the only things I don't like that much is the muzzle flash from the gun and the blood but other than that it's kick-bottom XD

Wow as always very professional...
...and disturbing!! Pedophiles, 7 year olds with grudges and a murderous habit?? Man you pulled out all the stops! And with great effect.
I like the Eiffel Tower in the first panel, the open window right before Baras goes on the roof, and I like the blood.
Good luck in the contest!!

Oh I forgot to mention that I probably wouldn't have made my submission without inspiration from that first page you posted a short while back. It was eye catching and captured all the potential in the Renaissance storyline.
Wait wait wait... Pedophiles? :)

Well, yes, that was one of the mis-leads. But maybe with the crunch time it didn't end up coming through completely that the boy was being experimented on for anti-aging solutions... But instead of providing a way to keep people LOOKING young, they froze the boy's aging and apparently still didn't find what they were looking for. He's basically a 20 year old failed experiment who finally managed to escape, then plotted a way to get revenge against the scientist that kept him locked up at Avalon.

Thanks for the comments, anyhoo... Glad you liked it... and yeah, I tend to write really dark, harsh, shocking story lines lately :). Or that's the intent, anyway... Guess it's debatable whether or not I'm pulling them off successfully :)

i love it. short, simple, complete, and compelling. the layout is simple, but you're right...simply scolling down kept the action fluid and easy to follow. the story is great, it's dark but it really lends towards the development of karas' character and his feelings towards the "project". like you i can't say i know much about the story but this would easily fit in to any decent detective epic. good luck with the contest!
